Whilst the population of Turkey is predominately Muslim, there are a wealth of sites throughout the country which have huge significance to other religions, but mainly Christianity from Ephesus on the Aegean side of Turkey through to the underground churches in Cappadocia, and Tarsus on the far east of the Mediterranean coast, and Mount Ararat on the north east side of Turkey.
Southern Turkey is both the birthplace and home of St Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, and a place visited by St Paul before travelling to Rome, and is less than 2 hours away from our summer destination of Kalkan. Trips from Kalkan to Myra operate throughout the summer and are extremely popular with many tourists.

They are a way to learn the teachings of your religion and visit the sites important to your faith. Medieval monuments glorify the greatness of God and are educational in nature. The architecture, sculpture and windows of the medieval churches, basilicas and cathedrals are indeed lessons in scriptures and religious history.
