Turkey has a wealth of culture and history, from Ephesus to Whirling Dervishes, mosques to belly dancers, there is something for everyone. The country boasts a diverse range of cuisines – with exotic spiced dishes, sweet pastries and an abundance of sea food, every palate is catered for here. There are thousands of miles of beaches in the country with azure blue waters lapping against its shorelines, and many National Parks which are full of trees and shrubs.
Cultural group tours in 2008 and 2009 - suggested tour itinerary
Our suggested tour itinerary is based on a group of 10 spending 8 days touring the cultural highlights of Turkey. Price per person is £700.00 – including flights, transport, tour guide throughout, entrance fees, 6 nights half board twin share accommodation.
You may choose to follow this itinerary completely, or choose your own. As each tour is unique, we do not show prices for every option, please phone 0845 658 9669 with your requirements for a quotation. Tour groups can be any size from 2 people. Tours with 10 or more people are fully escorted.
- Day 1
- Your tour begins when your flight lands at Izmir airport on the west coast of Turkey.
- On arrival in Turkey you will be met at the airport by an English speaking representative of our Company.
- You will then be transferred by air conditioned coach from the airport to your hotel, in Kusadasi.
- After checking in at the hotel the rest of your day will be at leisure for you to explore the town.
- Your evening meal will be served in the hotel, and after you can relax and unwind or take yourself off into the town again to experience the evening markets.
- Day 2
- After breakfast at the hotel you will be collected by your English speaking escort, in an air conditioned coach, for a full day guided tour of Ephesus, including lunch with drinks.
- The tour will include:
- The ancient city of Ephesus
- The House of The Virgin Mary
- Entrance to the Ephesus Museum
- Entrance to the St. John Museum
- Your guide will be with you every step of the way to tell you all about this fascinating place, and answer any questions you may have.
- Following the tour you will be transferred back to the hotel, for your evening meal. Your evening is at your leisure.
- Day 3
- After breakfast at the hotel you have a choice of either spending the day exploring Kusadasi and its environs, or be taken on a trip to the nearby Dilek National Park, with lunch included.
- Turkey is renowned for its National Parks, and Dilek is no exception. With lush green forests as a back drop, and the turquoise waters of the west coast of Turkey stretched out in front of you, Dilek is the ideal place to spend a day relaxing and sunbathing.
- Following your day at Dilek, you will be transferred back to the hotel, for your evening meal.
- Your evening is at your leisure.
- Day 4
- After breakfast at the hotel you will board your air conditioned coach, with your tour guide, for a trip to Aydin.
- Included in the days tour are:
- A visit to the ancient city of Tralleis
- A tour of Aydin Museum
- A visit to the Bey Mosque, the Red Mosque and the Ramazan Pasha Mosque
- An opportunity to see other cultural and historical sights of Aydin
- Additionally you will have some leisure or shopping time in this beautiful city, following your Turkish lunch with drinks.
- Again, your guide will be on hand all day to help you.
- Following your day at Aydin, you will be transferred back to the hotel, for your evening meal. En route back to the hotel a stop will be made at the old village of Sirince so you can experience Turkish village life.
- Your evening is at your leisure.
- Day 5
- After breakfast at the hotel you will board your air conditioned coach, with your tour guide, for a trip to Priene, Miletos and Dydima.
- These 3 areas are all of outstanding historic interest with ruins dating back to 500 years B.C.
- Lunch will be served, during the day, with drinks.
- Your guide will be with you to explain the historic and religious significance of the areas you visit.
- Following your day, you will be transferred back to the hotel, for your evening meal.
- Your evening is at your leisure.
- Day 6
- After breakfast at the hotel you will check out from the hotel and board your air conditioned coach, with your tour guide, for the next leg of the journey to Pammukale.
- Pamukkale is Turkey’s Cotton Castle – an area with natural calcified water with reputed healing properties.
- Throughout history people have come to this area for the curative powers of the waters, and thus an ancient city of Hierapolis is next to Pamukkale.
- Again, your guide will be on hand all day to help you.
- Lunch will be served at Pamukkale.
- You will need to bring your swimming costumes and towels so that you can experience the thermal water pools of the area.
- After your day at Pamukkale, you will be transferred to your new hotel in the city of Denizli.
- After your evening meal at the hotel, you can spend your evening at leisure exploring the city.
- Day 7
- Following breakfast at the hotel you will be collected by your tour guide for a trip to Guney Selalesi, to see the spectacular waterfalls in this picturesque part of Turkey.
- You will then travel on to Laodicea – one of the 7 churches of the Apocolypse – referred to in the bible.
- Your tour guide will be on hand to answer any questions you may have, and to ensure that you get the most from each tour.
- Included is lunch with drinks.
- Following your tours, you will be returned to your accommodation in Denizli.
- After your evening meal at the hotel, you can spend your evening at leisure exploring the city.
- Day 8
- Following breakfast at the hotel you will check out and board your coach for the return journey to Kusadasi.
- En route back to the city you will stop to see the ancient city of Aphrodisias.
- Lunch will be served, during the day, with drinks.
- Again, your tour guide will be on hand to answer any questions you may have, and to ensure that you get the most from visit.
- On arrival back to Kusadasi you will have some time to do some last minute shopping, before being taken back to Izmir Airport for your return flight.
