Close to the Mediterranean Sea, the Roman amphitheatre resounds to classical tunes at performances in late August and September attracting thousands of spectators. Another opera, performed one September, was Puccini’s Madam Butterfly. The festival always includes an overseas performer, whether it be an orchestra or an opera/ballet company.
