Visit Turkey for the Aspendos
Opera & Ballet Festival
Every summer, operas and ballets are performed in the 15,000 capacity ancient Aspendos Theatre near Antalya, Turkey. Close to the Mediterranean Sea, the Roman amphitheatre resounds to classical tunes at performances in June and July, and in a change for 2012, September also attracting thousands of spectators. Organised by the Turkish Culture Ministry's State Opera and Ballet Directorate, this year's programme includes Puccini's Turandot and Tchaikovsky's ballet, Swan Lake. Another opera, to be performed in September, is Puccini’s Madam Butterfly. This year sees overseas performers including the Ekaterinburg Academic Opera & Ballet Company and the Beijing Opera company.
Following the success of the 2011 18th International Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival in June 2011 we will be offering packages to next year’s event. The standard package will include a 7 night stay, on a bed & breakfast basis, at a charming family run hotel in historic town of Side, Turkey and tickets to 2 performances at the festival.
