Visit Turkey for the Aspendos Opera & Ballet Festival
Every summer, operas and ballets are performed in the 20,000 capacity ancient Aspendos Theatre near Antalya, Turkey. Close to the Mediterranean Sea, the 2,000 year old Roman amphitheatre resounds to classical tunes at 9 performances in June and July, attracting thousands of spectators. Organised by the Turkish Culture Ministry's State Opera and Ballet Directorate, this year's programme includes Verdi's Aida and Nabucco, as well as Puccini's Turandot. Ballet performances include Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.
